International Graduate and Professional Student Orientation A reception and Student Organization Fair is included in the program. Spouses are encouraged to attend.

General International Student OrientationThis orientation is for those who arrived later, and were unable to attend the above orientation programs.

22 Tuesday

US Job-Search Tips and Work Authorization for International Students and Postdocs
5:15-6:15 pm, B 25 Warren Hall Auditorium
Are you an international student considering applying for internships during your studies, or preparing to enter the job market in the US? Do you have questions about which employers will sponsor US work visas? Are you finding it difficult to identify jobs or employers that fit your career goals? If so, attend this workshop. Information will also be provided on applying for F1 and J1 off campus work authorization. Presented by Cornell Career Services and ISSO.

Interviewing Advice for International Students and Postdocs
5:15-6:15 pm, Room 175 Warren Hall
Fall semester is here, and so is job-hunting season for students seeking internships or post-graduation positions! Cornell Career Services and the ISSO are offering this program to help international students prepare for job/internship interviews. Learn the ins and outs of the US job-hunting culture, and how to put your best-self forward during the interview process.

"Postcards to Home"
2:00-4:00 pm, The Tatkon Center, front reception area in South Balch Hall.
Show your family that you are thinking of them by sending a postcard! We’ll provide the postcards and stamps, you provide the words! Light refreshments will be served. 

7 Saturday

Cornell Football Game vs. Harvard/Pre-game Pizza Party
12:30 pm Pizza in Weil Hall room 226.
1:30 pm game start time at Schoellkopf Field.
The ISSO invites international students, visiting academic staff, family members, and their friends to join us for a pizza "tailgate" party before the game. Enjoy pizza while ISSO's sports gurus, Brendan O'Brien and Scott Beemer, explain the rules of the game that captivates millions of Americans, then walk over to cheer on Cornell Big Red Football. Discounted football tickets will be available at the ISSO in B-50 Caldwell Hall, a week before the game.

Special Halloween International Coffee Hour!
3:30-5:30 pm, Big Red Barn
Enjoy "spooktacular" treats, pumpkin carving, games, and more. Prizes for those daring enough to come in costume! Open to international and US students, staff, faculty, and families.

30 Monday

Safety Tips for Winter Driving/NYS Driver's License Workshop
3:30-4:30 pm in Myron Taylor Hall, Room 182
A must for all drivers new to driving in snowy, icy conditions! Cornell Police Officer, Beverly Jean Van Cleef will present tips on driving safely this winter on Ithaca's hilly streets. Afterwards, international and non-New York State drivers can learn how to obtain a New York State Drivers license. This event is sponsored by the Cornell Law School Graduate Legal Studies Program, the Cornell Police Department, and ISSO.
