January

International Student Orientation

2:00-4:30 pm in Olin Hall, room 155
This orientation is for incoming undergraduate, graduate and professional students and will provide essential immigration and legal information, guidelines on health and safety, and tips for academic success. Come and meet other new students and receive a warm welcome from student volunteers who are prepared to share their experiences at Cornell.

US Job-Search Tips and Work Authorization for International Students and Postdocs
5:15-6:15 pm, B 25 Warren Hall Auditorium
Are you an international student considering applying for internships during your studies, or preparing to enter the job market in the US? Do you have questions about which employers will sponsor US work visas? Are you finding it difficult to identify jobs or employers that fit your career goals? If so, attend this workshop. Information will also be provided on applying for F1 and J1 off campus work authorization. Presented by Cornell Career Services and ISSO.

Interviewing Advice for International Students and Postdocs
5:15-6:15 pm, Plant Science Building, room 233 (auditorium)
Spring semester is here, and so is job-hunting season for students seeking internships or post-graduation positions! Cornell Career Services and the ISSO are offering this program to help international students prepare for job/internship interviews. Learn the ins and outs of the US job-hunting culture, and how to put your best-self forward during the interview process.

Basketball and Pre-game Pizza Party/Cornell against Brown University
6:00 pm, Kaplan Room in Bartels Field House (Location To Be Confirmed)
7:00 pm game start time in Newman Arena in Bartels
The ISSO invites international students, visiting academic staff, family members, and their friends to join us for a pizza party before the game and mingle with old and new friends and then cheer on Cornell Big Red Basketball. Discounted basketball tickets will be available at the ISSO in B-50 Caldwell Hall, a week before the game. 

10 Thursday

Valentine's Day Celebration at International Coffee Hour!
3:30-5:30 pm, Big Red Barn
Make a valentine for your sweetheart and/or family members. Open to international and US students, staff, faculty, and families.

Day Trip Skiing/Snowboarding at Greek Peak

Are you interested in taking one of our trips? Here is what you need to know! Trip announcements will be sent to iPrograms-L and international-L electronic lists. Spaces are generally limited and participants are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. In most cases, trip fees will apply. Registration and payment for trips are being processed online through University Ticket Sales. Prior to registering for a trip, if you have not already done so for a previous trip, you will need to create an account at issotickets.com.
