PREPARE Program

For Incoming International Undergraduate Students
August 14 - August 17, 2017

What is PREPARE?

Incoming undergraduate international students are strongly encouraged to arrive in Ithaca four days BEFORE New Student Orientation in order to participate in PREPARE, the international pre-orientation program. This program provides travel-weary students with an early start on their Cornell experience. During these four days, participants will not only obtain resources to meet the challenges of adjusting to college life in the US, they will also have the opportunity to make new friends with students from all over the world.

Time to Adjust Before University Orientation

University orientation for the entire freshman class does not officially begin until the end of that week, so PREPARE will give you a chance to recover from travel fatigue and confusion before plunging into other orientation activities and academic tasks. During PREPARE you will learn about the US academic system, Cornell's student life and traditions, and the international community as well as covering practical matters. Our program provides the unique opportunity to ask questions and discuss issues with officials from throughout the University, including staff from health services, campus police and academic departments.

Interact with Upper-Level International & American Students

Most importantly, experienced upper-level international and US students will be there to answer every question you might have about this exciting new part of your life. And before you begin to think PREPARE is all work and no play, we remind you that the program includes some great social activities as well. Prepare for an exciting time, a comfortable start to your Cornell career, and the chance to make friends for a lifetime.
